Compatriots of the Sacramento Chapter
This message comes with a level of urgency that can no longer be understated.
Our chapter is facing a critical leadership crisis, and unless more members step forward, the Sacramento Chapter will be unable to function at the level our mission - and our oath - demands.
Several essential positions remain vacant: Executive Vice President, Secretary, Registrar, and Webmaster. These are not ceremonial roles. They are the backbone of our chapter's operations, and without them, we cannot sustain the programs, outreach, and public presence that define who we are.
In addition, our Color Guard is critically short of Guardsmen. Without additional volunteers, we will be forced to decline appearances and reduce our presence at ceremonies, parades, and community events.
We also have no chairmen for the following youth and community programs:
- Americanism Poster Contest
- Brochure Contest
- Knight Essay Contest
- Eagle Scout Program
- ROTC/JROTC Program
These programs are among the most meaningful ways we fulfill our purpose as descendants of the heroes of the American Revolution. If we cannot staff them, they will not happen - and our chapter's impact will diminish.
When each of us took the SAR oath, we pledged to honor the sacrifices of our Patriot ancestors and to maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom. We pledged to promote patriotism, respect for our national symbols, pride in being American citizens, and the unifying spirit of e pluribus unum.
Those obligations are not symbolic. They require action. They require participation. They require stepping forward when the chapter - and the mission - needs us.
Doing nothing is not an option.
A chapter of nearly 180 members cannot rely on the same small handful of volunteers to carry the full weight of our responsibilities. If we want this chapter to thrive, if we want our programs to continue, if we want our heritage honored in the way it deserves, then more Compatriots must take up the mantle of leadership.
If you care about this chapter, its mission, and the legacy you pledged to uphold, now is the time to act. Whether you can take on a full role, share responsibilities, or assist behind the scenes, your service matters, and now is the time to act.
Please join us on February 7, 2026, from 9 AM to Noon, at The Officers Club, 3410 Westover St, McClellan, to organize our leadership team for 2026.
Our Patriot ancestors did their part. We trust you will do yours.
With urgency and respect,
Nic Gauthier
